TI dues may be paid by credit card or check, payable to Toastmasters international (you can bring your checkbook to a meeting and pay there). Local dues may be paid by cash or check, payable to the Mile Square Toastmasters, pay at a meeting.
You may come to a meeting as often as you feel it is necessary to decide whether you would like to join. Please see me or Andrea Turner (President of MileSquare) if you are interested. As a guest you may participate in Table Topics, but prepared speeches are for members only.

Toastmaster International offerings:

  • Weekly speaking opportunities as Toastmaster, Table Topics master, Table Topics participant, Prepared Speech Speaker, Evaluator, Timer, Ah-Counter, Grammarian, and General Evaluator.
  • Leadership and club management opportunities as an officer: President, VP Membership, VP Education, VP Public Relations, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant at Arms. These people are elected to a 1 year term, July-June. (The Sergeant-at-Arms is responsible for making sure the room is set up properly for a meeting to start and to help in setting up the stage for a speaker that needs assistance. See the current Sergeant-at-Arms with any requests.)
  • Defined Toastmasters Development 'Career Path' - This is the path from becoming a new member to completing a CTM, then moving on the a leadership path or communications path. See www.toastmasters.org/education.asp )
  • Monthly Magazine - Members receive a monthly magazine with articles focused on building communication and leadership skills.
  • Conferences - Regional 2 day conferences feature workshops and various social events. Our members have stated that these are very valuable.
  • Speech contests - Contests are available for speeches, evaluations, and Table Topics. These are at the local club level, the winners moves on to contests at the district, region and international level.
  • Tax Deductible dues - Check Toastmasters International web site for details, and check with your financial advisor.
Additional Mile Square Toastmasters offerings:
  1. Mentor program - Have someone help you out with selecting a topic, preparing a speech, or digesting feedback. (See William Cerf for details.)
  2. DVD recording of your speech - The club purchases a DVD for each member. Ask to have your prepared speech recorded. Take home and review it in conjunction with your formal evaluation comments and the member evaluation slips. Bring your DVD back for your next prepared speech. (See the Sergeant-at-Arms for details or review the page on the website, "Getting Your Speeches Recorded".)
  3. Master Speaker Series - Seasoned speakers will be brought in occasionally to share their speaking tips and provide an example to the rest of the club. (See Shari Pople for details.)
  4. Social programs - Occasionally we will have a short party after the meeting to give people an opportunity to hang out and meet their fellow club members. There is also an annual holiday party in December.
  5. Mile Square web site cheat sheets to prepare and execute various roles, such at Toastmaster, Table Topics Master, Table Topics participant, General Evaluator, etc.
  6. Mile Square Duty Roster - In case you cannot make it to a meeting to sign up for a speech slot, you can do it via this website. Please note that only current members can sign up for roles. You can find a link to the directions for using the website on the "Resources" page.
